Pulley

Belt-driven pulley. The contact and friction between the belt and the drum are modelled. This is a highly nonlinear problem which includes nonlinearity due to friction and contact. The belt itself is modelled as a membrane element which provides only tensile stiffness. Due to symmetry, only one half was modelled.

The stress distribution in the belt is consistent with the observed belt wear pattern.
