A toroidal tank for the storage of LPG fuel is modelled to predict the residual stresses when the structure is pressurised above yield and then unloaded. This is a typical requirement in pressure vessel manufacturing.
The nonlinear static solver can be used to analyse the elasto-plastic behaviour of the material. Shown are the maximum Von Mises stresses upon loading, together with the residual stresses and permanent set upon unloading.
