Building finite element models in Strand7

Sub-modelling Sub-modelling allows you to extract parts of a model and save them as separate files, with boundary displacement conditions automatically enforced as restraints. This lets you perform local mesh grading without having to re-solve the entire model.

Step 1: Create and solve a coarse mesh.

Step 2: Extract the sub-model and verify that the results are the same as the original full model.

Step 3: Globally refine the model and re-solve to obtain a better solution. Boundary conditions are automatically interpolated by the automatic mesh subdivision tools.
