STAAD File: Loads
Description
Not all loads that are available in STAAD can be imported. The following lists the loads that are supported and those that are not:
- Joint loads are supported.
- Beam loads that are distributed in a triangular fashion are not supported. All other beam loads such as concentrated, linear and trapezoidal loads are supported. In addition, multiple beam loads are not supported unless they occur at the same position.
- Concentrated beam moments and distributed beam moments are supported.
- Only uniform plate loads are supported.
- Only Area loads are supported. Two-way Floor loads are not supported.
- Pre-stress loads are supported. Post stressing of elements is not supported. Eccentricity of a pre-stress load is not supported.
- Fixed end loads are not supported.
- Temperature loads are supported for beam elements. However, this load has no true equivalent in Strand7 (the Strand7 temperature load is assigned to nodes, not beams or plates). Hence, the temperature load is interpreted as an equivalent pre-strain.
- Support displacement loads are supported. However, these are related to the freedom case in Strand7, not the load case. Hence, a support displacement load acts across all load cases that use the freedom case.
- Self-weight loads are supported.
- Moving loads, seismic loads and wind loads are not supported.
- The REPEAT LOAD command is not supported.
- Load Combinations are supported.
