Node Attributes: Symmetry Restraints
Description
Automatically assigns symmetry restraints to the model.
The locations of the symmetry planes are determined based on the Type selection. Restraints are only applied to nodes that appear on the symmetry planes.
Restraint attributes are freedom case dependent.
Dialog
-
Cartesian symmetry
Assumes the symmetry planes are the three global Cartesian planes (XY, YZ and ZX).
-
Cylindrical symmetry
Assumes two symmetry planes that occur at two angles around the selected global axis.
Axis X / Y / Z
Selects an axis of the global Cartesian system to be the axis of rotational symmetry for cylindrical symmetry restraints.
Angles θ1 / θ2
The angles which define the locations of the two symmetry planes for cylindrical symmetry restraints.
The position of the zero angle depends on the selected axis:
Axis | Zero angle lies on |
X | Y axis |
Y | Z axis |
Z | X axis |
Tol
An angular tolerance value which is used to determine if the selected nodes are on the symmetry plane or not.
