Plate Attributes: Thickness

Description

Assigns thickness to selected plate elements.

When this attribute is assigned and non-zero, it overrides the thickness in the plate property. When it is not assigned or is zero, plate thickness comes from the plate property.

The membrane and bending thicknesses can be different for linear isotropic, orthotropic and anisotropic plates. The membrane thickness is used to assemble the membrane stiffness matrix, whereas the bending thickness is used to assemble the bending stiffness matrix (see Common Properties: Plates).

Thickness attributes are independent of load and freedom cases.

Dialog

tm

Membrane thickness.

tb

Bending thickness.

Same as membrane

When set, the bending thickness is set equal to the membrane thickness (if the membrane thickness changes, the bending thickness is automatically set to the membrane thickness).
