Beam Properties: User-Defined

Description

Used for the definition of user-defined beam properties.

Common Toolbar

See Properties: Common Controls.

Coefficients Tab

The stiffness matrix of the user-defined beam is defined in the element's principal axis system using the three material sub-matrices [A], [B] and [C].

Translation Matrix [A]

Components of stiffness for the translational degrees of freedom (one axial and two shear directions).

Units are Force/Length (e.g., N/m, lbf/in).

Translation / Rotation Coupling Matrix [B]

Components of stiffness coupling the translational and rotational degrees of freedom.

Units are Force (e.g., N, lbf).

Rotation Matrix [C]

Components of stiffness for the rotational degrees of freedom (one twist and two bending directions).

Units are Force×Length (e.g., N·m, lbf·in).

Mass

Total mass of a user-defined element.

Units are Mass (e.g., kg, lb). Note that this is a mass, not a mass density.
