Import: Stereo-Lithography File

Description

Imports an STL (Stereo-lithography) file with file extension of .stl (text file) or .stb (binary file).

The stereo-lithography format stores surface information in the form of triangular tessellations. These are imported as triangular plates in Strand7, and are placed into a new group, as a child group of the root group. The name of this new group will be based on the name and type of the imported file.

Dialog

Name

Opens the file dialog to locate and select the STL file to be imported. Note that files can also be imported by using drag-and-drop directly onto the Strand7 model window or startup screen (see Strand7 Interface: Startup Screen).

Default Property Number

The default property type assigned to the imported plate elements.

Length Units

Length units in which the imported file is defined. The imported file is converted to the current units of the Strand7 model based on the length unit selected.
