ST7-R3.20.40.3 Plastic Beam Residual Stress
When a structure or structural member is loaded beyond the yield point of the material, plastic strains will develop. If the structure is subsequently unloaded, a state of residual stress and/or strain will be produced as the yielded material unloads elastically. This mechanical behaviour can be modelled in Strand7 for all element types. In this Webnote, a material nonlinear fibre stress beam model is compared to an equivalent plate model. Results are then validated against an analytical solution.
